If there is no way with Flash alone to do it, you should be able to do some stuff with HTML / JavaScript and then pass variables to the Flash that resides on that same web page. This page ( http://html5demos.com/geo ) is likely exactly what you are looking for, just in JavaScript form. Check the page source out to see how it works.
