Wow, my head hurts tracking this down. I think the bug is GraniteDS is scanning every entity to see if it should be a "Tide Component". It is scanning the map, and updated everytime a new child tile is added/removed and tries to scan it. But you can't touch the image tiles, hence the exception. So it is looking like it isn't a google maps problem, it is a problem with GraniteDS/Tide and the way it tries to interact with the map.
