Hmm. In the UK it's not usually legal to ride bikes through a pedestrian area. There are normally "No vehicles" signs at each end rather than "No motor vehicles". However this does indicate that a fair degree of local knowledge is needed in order to get it right for different modes of transport. [There are certainly contra-flow cycle lanes where bikes can legally go the wrong way down a one-way street, for example] This thread http://groups.google.com/group/Google-Maps-API/browse_thread/thread/a12fef4439790cf may be of interest. > Apoligies for my ignorance as I've only been looking at this today - > what should I be using to plot predetermined routes? Something like Mark McClure's utility at http://facstaff.unca.edu/mcmcclur/GoogleMaps/EncodePolyline/tracker.html allows point-and-click plotting of routes and on-the-fly encoding, which (a) *slightly* protects your data (b) decreases page-load time.
