Yes, it's a bug in createLabeledMarkerIcon() in MapIconMaker 1.1
The fix is to change this line
iconUrl += "Lauto'f\\";
to
iconUrl += "Lauto'f\\&ext=.png";
The other two types of icon have &ext-png where appropriate, but
createLabeledMarkerIcon() doesn't, so the API doesn't know that it
should tell MSIE to use the AlphaImageLoader.
