Another thing that sometimes goes wrong in Chrome is that the map gets 
centred wrongly if you open it in a new tab. I guess that it might be a 
timing issue due to the fancy new way that Chrome does asynchronous 
stuff.

I can't reproduce it consistently with the API, but it does seem to 
happen consistently with maps.google.com.

If you're viewing this page in Chrome, try shift-click on this link
    http://maps.google.com/?q=FY2
The marker gets placed at the right location, but the map gets centred 
somewhere near Moskva at zoom level 5. In any other tabbed browser the 
map is centred in the correct place at zoom level 13.

If you create the new tab in Chrome first and paste the URL then it 
works OK. If you Ctrl-Shift-click the link in Chrome then it works OK. 
The problem only occurs with shift-click.
