Prior to loading his custom tiles would be visible.  During loading,
the "src" property is set to the actual tile URL.  For each tile, the
"style.display" property is set to "none" and/or the
"style.visibility" property is set to "hidden".  Nothing is visible
during loading unless he places an extra layer underneath the tiles
which could be done in the container DIV.
