Pamela,

That sounds ambiguous: "learn more about javascript" means more than
how much?
If you don't know what an array is, you don't need to "lean more
javascript", you need to "learn javascript", without the "more". :-)

Call me narrow minded, but I truly believe that it is in everybody's
best interest to keep things on topic.
If people answer questions about basic javascript, or about
maps,google.com (non-API), then two negetive things happen:
1. A potentially useful piece of information is missing from the
relevant group, (javascript group or maps.google.com group)
2. We pollute the search results of this group.

How can we then ask people to search for the answer before posting, if
we don't bother to keep search results relevant to the group's topic?

I have nothing against newbies. We've all been there!
But I'm trying to get things to work in the way they are intended to,
which is pretty much in line with your own recommended reading here:

I think we always are!
In the 2+ years that I've been a member of this forum, only once did I
