Hi, I have the complete SRTM data in a mySQL Database and php scripts to efficiently work on this. (between the srtm data points (90 m distance) the points between are calculated by a triangle covering of the surface). I've done this to generate elevation profiles for running/ cycling tracks. You can see how it works on my website www.web4map.com and then go to "editor" (or directly: http://www.web4map.com/web4map.php )
There : -click "Draw Route" -click in the map to draw a route and then -"Get Profile". Since I had not so much time for this project the last months it is not as user friendly as I like it to be. I hope I will find some time for it in future;-) Maybe, if you have an interesting problem for this I could give you access to the data.
