The map types G_NORMAL_MAP and G_HYBRID_MAP now display approximate street addresses as street labels at zoom level 17 and higher. If one does not want these addresses displayed, they can zoom out; however, the user loses the ability to see more detail at the higher zoom levels.
Google should create separate map types for displaying the addresses labels because of the multitude of applications that have already been built to display streets labeled with numbers that could represent anything from number of occurences of anything on the street segment (traffic counts/volumes/crashes, etc.) to identification of the street (ids or linear referencing attributes such as mileposting or property addresses from local sources). There are several other Google map types that exist that are not as frequently used: G_MOON_ELEVATION_MAP G_MOON_VISIBLE_MAP G_MARS_ELEVATION_MAP G_MARS_VISIBLE_MAP G_MARS_INFRARED_MAP G_SKY_VISIBLE_MAP Google ... can you add a couple more? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Maps API" group.
