Technically: You can run GDirections with the first parameter set to 
null. The directions are fetched but no map object need be involved.

Legally: Using "the Content" (which includes GDirections details) for 
any other purpose than displaying them on a publicly accessible map 
looks like a violation of the Terms. You may not access, reproduce, or 
use the Content for any other purpose.
