I've poured through the docs here, and I've got a simple n00b question that hopefully has an easy answer, and I'm just too overwhelmed to find.
I'd like to do a server-side call and get a list of locations matching a Google Maps search, like "McDonalds near US 21101" or similar. I want to use the result to create a list of locations a user can select from. I don't need maps, I don't need all the funky overlay stuff, just a simply JSON or XML response to a search string that I can incorporate into a PHP script.
