If I were doing it I would divide Scotland into regions and just mark
the regions at low resolution, then change over to just showing the
peaks in the region when it is selected or zoomed in sufficiently. A
Marker Manager should be able to do that for you quite capably with
the number of points you have. Maybe show the Munros only at the
intermediate zoom.
