No, it's just the way it works.   When you make a click, no browser/
operating system has any idea if you're going to make another click.
If you do make another click, did you mean to make another single
click or is it a double click after all?

All that can be managed with timing - they could have set some default
values up, which would be too slow for some and too fast for others.
But the maps API is intended for programmers - so they let you have
the choice.
