Why do Google maps, when printed via a browser's File -> Print menu,
strip the Google logo and copyright notices from the printout? Is
this a bug or a feature? I can't fathom why Google would not want
these notices to appear in printouts.

I posted a similar question in the Google Maps Troubleshooting group,
but have had no replies. The behavior seems to affect Google Maps in
general, including My Maps and Maplets.

I now see from browsing many examples in the Google Maps API Demo
Gallery that the same behavior occurs uniformly in maps produced by
the API.

All of this seems quite at odds with Google Maps' terms of use and
documentation for Geopermissions, which are quite strict about
requiring the logo and copyright notices to be retained within map
images.
