I was unable to get any satellite tiles or very few even at zoom
levels 13 and 14 when I was in the satellite only mode or any mix mode
that used the satellite view.The "problem" solved itself later that
night and it's fine today. I'll do more searches using Rossko's
suggestions. I had tried some searches (although my search terms were
a bit off the mark) but I'm affraid many of the results were a bit
over my head. Thank you both for your help with a beginner!
