Also, be aware that not all supported browsers support PNG transparency and HTML partial opacity at the same time. In MSIE6 you can have one or the other, but not both.
You can either set isPng to true, in which case MSIE passes the tile images to the AlphaImageLoader which ignores the opacity setting. Or you can set isPng to false, in which case MSIE renders the image natively, honouring the HTML opacity setting, but ignoring the partial opacity of the image file. This is a fundamental failing of MSIE6, and there's nothing that Google can do about it other than declare MSIE6 a non-compatible browser. (Now there's an idea). You might consider turning your transparent PNG into a transparent GIF. MSIE can handle those.
