The API is CONSTANTLY evolving and changing.

Since you don't provide any link to your site its quite hard to know
whats the issue in your case.

The most likely however is that you are using old version 1 syntax,
some recent changes inadvertently broke compatibility.

recent version of the API."
However many people have continued to create new stuff after that
time, either from copy/pasting from old examples or sites, or from
coping from out of date books.

Google don't support the v1 compatibility mode, but its provided as a
courtesy, and as time goes on its more likely to break.
