That thread is from 2005 before Google added geocoding to the API.

See the documentation for the google geocoder:

Mike Williams' Tutorial has examples of using it:
http://econym.org.uk/gmap/
although since the businesses don't move it would probably make more
sense to use the http geocoding service and geocode the addresses
offline then store the coordinates in your database.
