Unless you've got multiple alternate servers with independent Internet 
connectivity, then the Maps will be considerably more reliable than the 
rest of your website.

[Google Maps did go down for a few hours in Australia once, but since 
none of the official website uptime monitoring services are located in 
Australia, the official uptime for Google Maps is 100%]
