It's not the custom icons or sidebar that IE doesn't like. It fails to 
read your XML file. Such failures are normally due to the fact that IE 
strictly enforces the character encoding, whereas other browsers 
tolerate characters which are invalid in the specified character set.

However, IE normally displays details about such errors when you point 
your browser directly at the XML feed, and that doesn't happen in this 
case.
