I dont think it does anything - its just from tracking purposes. I
think uds is the Google short hand for 'local search'

Thats the best I think we have outside of Google

Once they have been used in 'Link' on the real maps site - its pretty
hard for Google to depreciate them, as it would break peoples
bookmarks and email links.

But other than that Google is in constant developement, I dont there
is any garentees things wont change.
