UPDATE: GMM _is_ able to look and search for your POIs. So the most 
easiest and most generic way is to manage one or a couple of MyMaps (aka 
"user generated content") for major areas/cities using Google, fiind a 
most unique POI tag, publish your maps, wait..., and search for your 
POIs in GMM.

Tested a couple of minutes ago.
