Well, not really free-form text data....structured text data, but in a form that can be easily processed. Sure, directions and local searches are the kinds of information I'm talking about. Whether it is with or without a map is not really important to what I'm wondering: it might be with a map, it might be without a map....but the content (the route or local search data) is served independently of the map, such that you could construct what Google has done. Google's JavaScript API is meant to add value. But can we discard that value-added? Basically, does Google expose the primitives upon which it builds it's JavaScript interface, and do we have access to those primitives? (Without violating the Terms of Use, obviously.)
