Hmmm... how open is this open source? The README.txt says:
"The OSGB Web Map Tools project is released subject to a BSD licence." The LICENSE.txt says we can redistribute, modify, etc. so long as the Crown Copyright notice is left intact. No mention of not allowing use for commercial projects, which fits the BSD licence style. But then we have this from the top of GridProjection.js, which is a file I'd like to use in commercial applications: /** Ordnance Survey Open Space Javascript library Crown Copyright 2007 Ordnance Survey. The Crown owns the intellectual property rights in the OS API. The OS API remains the property of the Crown and your use or possession of the OS API does not give you any ownership of or other interest in the OS API. Title to any copies that you make of the OS API shall pass to us on their creation. Use of the OS API is permitted only in accordance with the Open Space developer Licence (accessible on the OSGBWebMapTools.ordnancesurvey.co.uk website). All rights in and to the OS API not expressly granted in the Open Space Developer Licence are reserved by Ordnance Survey and the Crown. **/ Surely this must be a mistake? Or can we ignore the implied restrictions in this file's header given the higher-level LICENSE.txt wording? OSGBWebMapTools.ordnancesurvey.co.uk doesn't exist, so I presume they mean osgbwebmaptools.sourceforge.net Perhaps they were a little rushed to get this out? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Maps API" group.
