Hi developers-

Back in August, we pre-announced that we'd be automatically upgrading
requests for API versions lower than 2.s (2.73) to 2.s in the near
future:
http://groups.google.com/group/Google-Maps-API/browse_thread/thread/1454fabde5453959?pli=1

The future is now. You can see this in action here, where a request
for 2.70 gives back 2.73:
http://gmaps-samples.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/versionchecker.html?v=2.70

Since our API is backwards compatible, this shouldn't theoretically
cause issues for developers that were on the previous versions. (But..
stranger things have happened).

Keep this upgrade in mind if developers post this week about sites
"working 2 years ago" but not now - that's likely an indication they
were somehow affected. Thanks!
