We're looking for a developer willing to join our volunteer Task Group
planning the biggest event of the International Year of Astronomy 2009
-- the 100 Hours of Astronomy. We're putting a new web site online
and will start registering events taking place around the world. We
want to use Google Maps to show where all the events are and let the
public zoom in to find events near them as well as search the
registered events. Yes, it's volunteer but there must be some amateur
astronomers here who would like to be a part of this UN-declared year
along with thousands of other enthusiasts around the world.

For information on the International Year of Astronomy 2009 see
www.astronomy2009.org.

A brief description of the 100 Hours of Astronomy IYA2009 Cornerstone
Project (static HTML) www.100hoursofastronomy.org

The new site is being built in Joomla and we'll have community
participation. It will be the portal to all events worldwide
including live streaming video from the world's largest research
observatories and more.

Want to be a part of the biggest science public outreach event ever?
Please contact me at msimm at ucla dot edu.
