For those of you who are interested in good, free geo data of the US, the newest version of Tiger (Tiger2008) has been released. It looks pretty good, a few oddities, but overall, very up to date. I checked some new roads that were added in December 2007 and they were in the data. Potentially, this data would make as good or perhaps a better geocoder than many offered now, without ANY restrictions on how it is used.
I will have a new PostGIS and Tiger geocoder up and running soon. Imagine unlimited transactions and no restrictions on what you do with the data. Mmmmm.
