Edges are exactly like the Tiger/Line records 1 & 2, faces is the record type A and the old I record is now part of edges, fields tnidf (node from) and tnidt (node to). Using the featname table will get you a better link with the names, as any road with multiple names will have multiple records in that table, so yes, it would be possible to form complete roads, at least from what I've seen. Experience may show otherwise though.
