Nothing too dramatic here, but I've had to lug around 400 icons around
with my open source application, and I've just uploaded a zip file
with a pair of PHP scripts that will generate these on the fly, as an
alternative. (Yes, there are other alternatives.) You'll need GD
with yr PHP, but this is pretty common.

The zip file is gen_icons.zip - if you can read PHP its use will be
clear. Comes with some blank colored icons, and provides for
embedding 1- and 2-character strings. These are conventional tear-drop
icons, but the script is simple and you shd be able to adapt others
without major surgery.

If someone cd adapt these also to generate the colors on the fly,
bless you, and pls let me know.
