I have answered my own question. It apparently has something to do with carriage return/line feeds because I captured the file a different way and opened it and my editor wanted to know if I wanted to convert it to a DOS format.
It apparently wants entries separated by hex 0A (linefeed) rather than 0D0A (carriage return / line feed). Now I just need to find a good editor for generating such files in Windows.
