I used the demo examples to create a Google map with 400 custom markers. The map's responsiveness has been poor taking over 10 seconds to respond to a zoom event. You can see the map at http://www.aascu.org/association/members/map/
I exported the same marker locations to a third-party map generator that uses Yahoo maps and the perfomance was significantly better. http://www.batchgeocode.com/map/?i=5855039e6bcd5a06403c4fd2d05202d7 Are Google maps slower than Yahoo maps when the number of markers is large? Are there any API calls that can improve performance and still display all the 400 markers?
