Hello, I have recently "finished" my map, (thank you all for your generous help).
Recently there has been a change in the way my University plans to store/ maintain data. Currently is is somewhat of a free for all, and each department/ organization is responsible for getting and maintaining the needed data. As imagined this has lead to tremendous integrity issues. So I have recently been asked to pull data from our databases instead of the xml file. I have spent the majority of the day reading articles about php and mysql -- I plan to learn a little about both in this conversion. But I cannot seem to figure out if getting my values from the database and using php will only create another xml file. I assume this to be the case. But I would like a clarification if I could get one. Also if anybody could suggest a good place to get more info oh how this process works, tutorials articles and examples, that would be great.
