It's not any script. It's about how the images are saved.

Check out this map:

Zoom in until you have few markers.
The icon images are created with Paint Shop Pro 6 and I'm not using
any special script to show them in IE6.
Grab one icon, (save the file, don't use copy/paste), open it with
your image program and look at its properties.
