i had a similar project like yours last year. we have about 1 million members and we have their physical addresses. I geocoded all of these records and about 70% matched their real locations. the rest of them were then geocoded based on the zipcodes. but Google Map can't display all of these records (too many points). Finally we ended up using a KML service to spread it internally.
i guess your main problem is how to geocode your customers. if you can't access any ArcGIS software, u can try Yahoo oline geocoder, MS streets & Trips, etc. On Thu, Jan 15, 2009 at 9:51 AM, Peter <[email protected]> wrote: > > I've got a database of customers that I'd like to be able to display > on a map as pushpins - a sort of "here they all are - look at those > lovely clusters mwahaha" sort of thing. > > I figure the best was, given that this data is in an Access mdb would > be to export the postcodes as a CSV list, and then somehow feed this > into Google Maps, but I can't find any apps that can do this, and I > have next to no programming skills outside of VBA – can anybody > provide me with pointer as how I might be able to do this?
