I am not sure where I learned of the undocumented parameter. I see it described on http://econym.googlepages.com/reference.htm#GMenuMapTypeControl, so that might be where I found it. I am not sure I should remove the parameter from the online example. The problem still occurs when the parameter is removed, but the visible symptoms change slightly. It might be useful for the Google team to see.
