I **strongly** recommend reading through Mike's tutorial. You wouldn't have "stumbled across a script" if you had actually followed the link you quoted. The "bubble" is called an infoWindow, and it helps everyone if you use the right term. The infoWindow's graphics are fixed: see http://maps.google.com/intl/en_us/mapfiles/iw2.png You can use customisable third-party effects like Mike's EBubble (see his tutorial pages).
