The problem is with the icon definition for your custom icon.  See
Mike Williams' tutorial:
Making your own custom markers

pay attention to
click target for IE:
http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/reference.html#GIcon.transparent
click target for other browsers:
http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/reference.html#GIcon.imageMap
