Hi All, I was able to get to a rough workable version of an approximated Clickable Heat Map using Semi-Transparent Markers. It works with a couple thousand markers but is still useable. Currently, I'm only displaying 300 markers. There are some obvious fixes, but I wanted to share this method since I think it will be useful for others.
http://www.bcmetis.ca/manage_display_heatmap.php. The markers are clickable, however without a login, you can't see this part of the data since it is sensitive. Notice that the markers expand in size as you zoom down levels. I have not dealt with Meridian issues, which I will need to since some of the data is in the Arctic. I am not entirely happy with the colours, however if you've got any suggestions I'd appreciate them. I still need to calculate the area differences on the zoom so the same approximate area is covered with each zoom level.
