Go to http://maps.google.com , click on 'Get Directions' and set up a directions route. When it has displayed, go to the top right hand corner just above the map and click 'Link'.
In the 'Paste link in email or IM' box you will see the URL needed to reproduce the map with directions. Copy and Paste to the URL box of your browser to see it at work.
