Hi,

Points of interest (tourist attractions etc) have started appearing in
maps for some UK cities as produced via the maps API (but not in the
public Google Maps), marked with brown labelled icons (see e.g.
central London where Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, etc. are marked).

In the maps for Oxford these markers include some (but not all) of the
Colleges and University buildings, and several are actually in the
wrong place! This is seriously unhelpful when trying to use the maps
API to produce maps of the location of the Colleges... (e.g.
http://www.ox.ac.uk/colleges/map_of_the_colleges_and_halls/ -- zoom in
to e.g. Hertford to see several of our points and Google's points).

So, two questions please:

1. Is there any way to exclude these icons from the maps?
2. Where is the data coming from -- e.g. is it a feed from an existing
source like the Wikipedia POIs in GEarth?

NB these points don't seem to appear in the Tele Atlas maps, at least
not the ones where changes can be submitted (http://
mapinsight.teleatlas.com/mapfeedback/index.php).

Any suggestions gratefully welcomed -- I have tried searching the
documentation, this group, Google blogs, etc and not found anything
relevant, but apologies if I've missed it.

Thanks in advance,
Janet
