There are four different polyline technologies, and the opacity implementation is different in each one.
If AIR announces itself as Webkit, then the API probably chooses the <canvas> technology. AIR is based on an early release of Webkit that implements an earlier draft of the <canvas> design than ever got implemented in Safari.
