On my Google map I plan to include a large amount of markers (30 to 50) in a small area. I need to hide or clear the markers when the map is loaded to avoid confusing user and to avoid the page looking too cluttered. So basically I only need the icons to appear when a user hovers over or clicks on one of the sidebar entries.
Here is a link to my current map: http://geocities.com/middcc/google-map3.htm To solve this problem I have been investigating the following solutions: Markermanager and Mouseover. Unfortunately Markermanager doesn’t seem to be ideal as it’s best suited for a huge number of markers. The mouseover (another great tutorial at: http://econym.org.uk/gmap/mouseover.htm) was my preferred solution as I could make the default icon blank and make the mouseover icon real - but I cannot get it to work with multiple sidebars, tabbed icons and XML. Can anyone give me any pointers/help on how to hide the markers on start-up and only make the markers visible when you hover over or click on the sidebar entries?
