That sort of thing can happen if you add an overlay twice then remove it 
once. What happens is that the overlay continues to be listed in the 
internal list of things that have to be redrawn when the map zooms, but 
because the overlay has been removed from the map, the redraw crashes. 
Other overlays further down the list get skipped, so they don't get 
redrawn to match the new zoom.

Check your Javascript errors to see the crash.
