It's a bit difficult to understand your words, so if you mean
something like:

"I'd like to not use the map.setCenter in my map located at (the URL
to your map) but it appears that there is no way around it."

Then the answer is that yes, you must use the setCenter function
before anything else. The documentation is quite clear on that.
