There isnt an exact answer because much depends on the complexity of your app.

(eg if your markers are very simple, you might get away with more)

best thing to do is try it out and see, what gives a good performance for you.

You should also consider usablity, a larger number of markers is
probably only going to overwelm the user. You should aim for the
minimum required for the task.


But having said that, I've seen 200 quoted as a rough target in this
group. (Google Maps for example, use 200 as the upper limit for really
simple markers, but right down to 30 for more advanced uses). In other
cases it limits it to 80 at any one time.
