err, well he does go on to talk about pixels, they're not very OS specific really. Perhaps your client doesn't use pixels (though how it could render the map image you're scraping I'm not sure) but I thought you said you wanted pixel to lat/long transforms - three different practical examples have been given already. Not the textual explanation you seek true, this is a group for maps developers rather than theory. Charlie Savage's article explains pretty well what's going on, and it's easy to identify the theory steps to the practical equations. You do seem intent on dismissing the good help you've been given without looking at it properly. There's plenty more under - http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=pixel+position+to+lat+long&meta=&aq=f&oq= http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=spherical+mercator&meta= etc. No-one owes you free maps or free advice. Most of the developers here will be hostile to perceived abuse of Google's terms. Google are actually quite reasonable about it, bear in mind they have constraints put on them by the map suppliers (the maps are not free to Google), and that makes the developers job easier. In the face of abuse, Google may be forced to tighten both the terms and the enforcement, which no-one here wants. Even if you think this is irrelevant you might understand others concern. Other map suppliers have different terms which may suit you better, both free and paid-for. good luck, Ross K --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Maps API" group.
