Hi there, I've recently had to change a function that validates UK postcodes (via pattern matching) because we found it was not accurate with a lot of crazy London postcodes. I changed the function to be a little more leniant in the hope that if it APPEARS like a UK postcode then Google Maps would slap us and tell us it was incorrect when we sent it off to get the coordinates.
However something interesting is happening, when I decided to test some made-up postcodes (which follow the pattern but aren't real) Google Maps returned the coordinates 18.5544, 73.9057 The strange thing is that ALL of the made up postcodes I tried come back with these coordinates. Are they some kind of default "I have no idea" response? If so why does Google Maps still return a code 200? The postcodes I tried are as follows: ZZ8 4DT FF2 8DD FF4 0DD The only connection I can draw is that the first two alpha characters are the same. Any ideas would be appreciated!
