You'd have to obtain lat/lng values for the locations in your list. You can't compare distances between postcodes directly.
The Royal Mail refuses to allow Google to offer geocoding of full UK postcodes through the Maps API. It's a licensing issue. So if you need full postcode accuracy you either need to ask your users to put in a full address, or find another service to provide the geocoding.
