There is no such thing as "MyMaps additions to the api". The example
you mention is just some image buttons that execute some functions
that simulate the My Maps functionality.

The Google example works as the developers intended it to. If you want
it to work differently then you need to write different code.

If you have a problem with a page you are building please follow the
posting guidelines and post a link to your page, not to someone else's
examples.
