If I go to Google maps and type "New York Stores" I see a few stores plotted using markers and the remainder are shown on tile overlays as a red dot (likely for performance reasons).
What interesting is that mouseover of the red dot overlay points changes the mouse from grab to pointer (even though they are just part of an image). Does anyone know what technique does Google use to accomplish this ?
